Pixar’s 22 rules of storytelling

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about storytelling, and then subsequently remembered this link I found a while ago. I love Pixar, their movies are amazing stories combined with stunning visuals and interesting characters. I also love their ethos, which you can read about in the book Black Box Thinking.

They’re never happy with the first few results, they test religiously and are never too proud to change. They put the audience (customer) before their own egos and enjoyment, and that’s why their movies are so magical and successful.

While a piece of business collateral, a case study or a presentation may not end up as a compelling film, there’s no reason that you can’t use storytelling principles to make it more interesting for the reader.

You can read the 22 Pixar Storytelling Rules here – enjoy!
